My friend breeds guinea pigs, and I wanted to know if this is true: she said that guinea pigs born in Summer are healthier than those born in Winter. I'm getting another in October, so I don't know whether to wait til next year.

Hi. I think this does actually apply for all animals, that spring/summer pregnancies are better. This doesn't mean you're gonna get an ill pig though, if one's born in winter. Personally I don't believe there's noticeable different for an owner. Any breeders on here who may know more about this?

The obvious point is that it is colder in the winter which is not so good for the piggies. I normally have two breeding sesions a year one in Spring/Early Summer and the other in early Autumn. None over winter. But I keep mine outside..
