Well the thing is I've had a guinea pig before but she died quite young so I'm not sure I'm that capable of looking after them. She lived outside and if i get another one i would want in a plastic cage inside, do you think its a good idea to get another guinea pig, it would be staying at my dads who i only get to see every fortnight for a weekend. Please help do you think its fair on the guinea pig to do that? x

Definiatly not. It is not fair to you father to expect him to clean out the pigs each week, feed them every day which means he has to go our and get the food. Nor is it fair for the pigs not to get handled on a regular basis only when you visit your father.

Sadly Fifi it wouldn't be a wise decision. The biggest factor in getting a new pet is taking whole responsibility of the animal and not having to rely mostly on other people. It is unfair on whoever would end looking after your pig and unfair on the pig who wouldn't know who is his proper owner. Guinea pigs thrive on routine and such a change in ownership and routines would upset them. Is it not possible to have a guinea pig where you live permanently? This really would be the only viable way, i'm afraid.
